Three men are being charged with murder in connection with the shooting of 22-year-old aspiring Latin singer Maria de la Rosa, who was killed in LA this week.

Three men have been charged with murder in the shooting of 22-year-old influencer and aspiring Latin singer Maria de la Rosa, who was killed in an “ambush-style” attack in Northridge, Los Angeles, early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 1:30 AM on Saturday, three people in a parked car were struck in the “ruthless and targeted attack,” prosecutors confirmed on Wednesday. Maria de la Rosa, known professionally as Delarosa, was fatally struck by gunfire, while the two other victims sustained critical injuries. Witnesses say two male suspects approached the car and fired multiple rounds.

De la Rosa was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. She had been in the passenger seat at the time of the attack.

Francisco Otilio Gaytan and Benny Licon Gomez, both 27, and Eduardo Lopez, 21, all three of Northridge, were charged Tuesday with murder and two counts of attempted second-degree robbery. Gaytan was arrested on Saturday and held in lieu of $2.18 million bail, while Licon Gomez was arrested on Sunday and held on $2.28 million bail. Lopez remained at large over the weekend.

Licon Gomez is expected to be arraigned in San Fernando on Wednesday, while Gaytan is scheduled to appear in San Fernando court on January 7.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, aside from a potential robbery. De la Rosa does not appear to have been specifically targeted, but public-facing details are currently scarce.

Deyanira de la Rosa, the victim’s mother, told ABC7 she is seeking answers over her daughter’s death. The family told the outlet that “the world has been robbed—not only of a kind, beautiful human, but of a rising musical star as well.”

“She was so young,” her mother said. “They stole her life.”
